Veteran Dependents/Spouses Scholarships

General scholarships and military affiliated scholarships are available to students at Texas A&M University. For more information regarding general scholarships please visit scholarships.tamu.edu.

Texas A&M Scholarships

To apply, submit the University Scholarship Application, available annually from October 15 to February 1. Please note that scholarship awarding is subject to funding availability. Students must apply each academic year to be considered for these scholarships.

  • A dependent child or spouse of a veteran who lost their life or was 100% totally and permanently disabled in a conflict.
  • Registered with the Veteran Services Office at Texas A&M University.
The Bush School of Government & Public Service provides several forms of financial assistance for its students who are residents and non-residents of Texas. For more information, please visit bush.tamu.edu.
  • A dependent of a deceased or permanently disabled veteran of the United States Armed Forces.
  • Preference given to member of the Corps of Cadets.
  • Registered with the Veteran Services Office at Texas A&M University.
  • A dependent child or spouse of a service member, federal employee, or Department of Defense contractor who became deceased or permanently disabled as the result of a conflict ( Killed in Action, hostile/terrorist act, friendly fired, or non-combat related injuries) during the Global War on Terrorism.
  • Financial need (verified through the FAFSA).
  • Registered with the Veteran Services Office at Texas A&M University.
  • Preference is given to a dependent child or spouse of an Aggie who served in a conflict, lost their life, or was 100% totally and permanently disabled in a conflict.
  • A dependent child or spouse of a veteran who served in a conflict, lost their life or was 100% totally and permanently disabled in a conflict.
  • Registered with the Veteran Services Office at Texas A&M University.
  • A dependent child of a veteran of the United States Armed Forces.
  • Preference given to graduates of high schools in Brown, Burnet, or Ellis counties in Texas.
  • Registered with the Veteran Services Office at Texas A&M University.

Outside Scholarships

Outside scholarships are offered and awarded by external entities not associated with Texas A&M University.

Dependents Only

Awarded to dependent children of an Air Force member who is on active duty, who is retired, or who is deceased and was retired or active.

Awarded to children of U.S. military members who died on active duty on or after Sept. 11, 2001 or children of post-9/11 veterans that have a combined disability rating of 50% or greater by the Department of Veteran Affairs.

Veterans, Dependents, & Spouses

Financially assist veterans and dependents who have exhausted government aid, or who might not otherwise have the financial means to continue their education. Annually awarded to veterans/active military, their sons, daughters or grandchildren. Children and grandchildren of deceased veterans eligible.

Awarded to deserving students to help them reach their educational and professional goals. Annual awards of up to $5,000 to individuals pursuing college and graduate degrees

Veterans and Dependents

Qualifications:
  • Currently attend a NAVPA member institution. Please refer to the NAVPA website for a list of member institutions or ask your School Veterans Administrator.
  • Be a U.S. citizen or eligible U.S. permanent resident.
  • Be an Honorably Discharged U.S. Military Veteran, Active Duty, Reserve or Guard member, or a Dependent of Veteran or Service member.
  • Be in good academic standing with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Complete prerequisite essay, not to exceed two pages. “How the NAVPA Scholarship will help me achieve my goals”.
  • Be enrolled in and maintain attendance at full-time rate at a NAVPA member approved college or university during the Spring 2020 semester/quarter.
  • Have earned a minimum of 12 college credit hours by the end of the Spring 2020 semester/quarter. For alternative certification/post-baccalaureate program applicants, credits may be from their bachelor’s degree program course of study.

Dependents and Spouses

Awarded to Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard personnel and their families.

Awarded to recipients of a Purple Heart who are also a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, or their spouse, child, step-child, adopted child, or grandchild. Spouses, widows and direct lineal descendants of Purple Heart recipients listed as killed-in-action or died of wounds may also be eligible.

Awarded to children/grandchildren of individuals who are serving or ever served as a Naval Aviator, Naval Flight Officer, or Naval Aircrewman (U.S. Navy/U.S. Marine Corps/ U.S. Coast Guard) and individuals who have ever served on board a U.S. Navy Aircraft Carrier in ship’s company or the Air Wing.

The Retired Enlisted Association’s (TREA) National Scholarship program. TREA members are proud to be able to offer these scholarships to our nation’s high school students. The program is open to any high school student.

The Society of the Daughters of the United States Army (DUSA) annual scholarship awards are the national project of the Society of Daughters of the United States Army. The Society makes one year, renewable awards, in the amount of $1,500. The number of scholarships awarded each year may vary based upon the number of eligible applicants and the amount of scholarship funds available.
